Ago | To talk about a specific point in the past. | I went to France two weeks ago. |
Since | To talk about duration from a point in the past until now when we mention a date. | I’ve been studying English since 1996. |
For | To talk about duration from a point in the past until now when we mention a period of time. | I’ve been studying English for fourteen years. |
After | Later than a specific point in time. | I’ll come after lunch. |
Before | Earlier than a specific point in time. | I’ll come before lunch. |
By | Before a specific point in the future. | I’ll be there by 12 o’clock. |
Until | No later than a specific point in time. | I’ll be here until 5 o’clock then I’m going home. |
From __until/to __ | Between two points in time. | The shop is open from 9 until/to 5. |
