To talk about people we use who and that:

A doctor is a person who helps patients.

A doctor is a person that works in a hospital.

To talk about things we use which and that:

The internet is a resource that we use everyday.

The internet is a resource which we use everyday.

To talk about possession we use whose:

Do you know that man whose mother I was talking to?

Relative adverbs

We use when to talk about time:

I clearly remember the day when I met him.

We use why to talk about reason:

I don’t have any idea why he does that.

We use where to talk about places:

I clearly remember the place where I lived as a child.
